This form is for you to describe the details of each volunteering role you want to promote. You can register as many different opportunities as you want. Think of this form like an advert. It’s worth spending a little time on it – the better the description, the more enquiries you will get.  See below for hints and tips. There are two formats of this form; one for posting to us and one for email.

What we do and don’t do
We promote your opportunities to potential volunteers face to face, at events and online through the Do-it website.  It is a free advertising service that enables you to reach a wide range of potential volunteers in a simple way.

If someone is interested in your opportunities we will notify you of their contact details and ask you to get in touch with them to take things further.

We do not “vet” potential volunteers on your behalf, so you will need to carry out whatever recruitment and selection processes are appropriate for your work. However we can work with you to help you develop a recruitment process to suit your organisation and the work that volunteers do.

Please notify us if you no longer need volunteers for a particular role, so that we can keep our information as up to date as possible.

CRB checking
Volunteering opportunities involving work with children, young people or vulnerable adults may require the volunteer to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check as one of the elements of the selection process. It is the responsibility of the volunteer-involving organisation to undertake these checks in line with appropriate legislation.

We are registered as an Umbrella Body with the CRB, so we can provide more information and access to CRB checks should you need it – visit the 'CRB Checking' pages on this site to find out more.

Tips for using the Opportunity Registration form

  • Make good use of the ‘Description’ box. This is your opportunity to ‘sell’ this opportunity to potential volunteers!
  • Highlight the positives – what’s good about volunteering with your organisation? What difference does it make?
  • Think of an interesting title for the opportunity which gives some idea of what it involves. Avoid using ‘Volunteer’ – it’s unlikely to catch anyone’s attention in a database filled with volunteer opportunities.
